Now that I have started to edit my project, I plan to expose the faults of the Mini DV media in a way that depicts the creator of the video does not need all of the expensive equipment that was required in the past. The faults will expand on my thoughts of how it can be easy to accomplish these effects but with consequences to the quality and realistic visual image you can create with in the convenience of your own home. I will explore the use of the green screen, and how with Mini DV these days you don’t even need a screen or for it to be green. The footage I will use will be extremely amateur, along with the editing and transitions to demonstrate how anyone with the equipment I use which is not much, can produce what once was only high budget Hollywood effects.

My previous thought of exposing the decaying and stretched Mini DV did not turn out the way I thought before. I believe it is because now I’m using newer and better quality Mini DV then I have used in the past. So the broken DV footage is much more unlikely to happen then what I’ve experienced in the past. When I was experimenting with the looks of Mini DV I came across some effects that are commonly used in DV media today. I found these effect mostly comical in the sense that they are very cliché, so giving this more thought, my intention to produce a DV project that highlights on the typical images that remind you of most DV videos you have come across in your life time. Expose those images and create a project that will make you think twice about how stereotypes of media can be true to an extent.

I have been giving thought to my first experiences with Mini DV, and I soon remember all of the first tapes that I shot. I shot over them time and time again soon I my footage became unusable, that tape stretched out making the footage look somewhat pixilated. I wanted to attempt to work with these chaotic images to explore the media of DV. Take a greater look into the faults that this media would experience, and create an emotional reaction such as suspense and anxiety to expose a newer way to think about this newer media.

To explore the mini dv bits and pieces I will expand the way I have seen it in the last years. I will try to find and expose the little parts of mini dv that collectively depict the newer digital age, compared to the dying art of film.
